WEEK ONE: EXECUTION
|
EXECUTION
Unlike yesterday, there are no ill effects forcing most people to report to the Grand Ballroom, although everyone will get the distinct feeling that they should go. It seems like, just as noted on the rulebook app, your presence is requested — not required. However, as the hour of the exorcism approaches, you will find that there is one exception. The PA system will crackle to life, and a warped, distorted voice subsequently rings out throughout the hotel:
Almost immediately, Hizamaru will find himself compelled to walk toward the Grand Ballroom. He will have no choice in this matter. Inside the Grand Ballroom, everyone will find the summoning circle and the tools for the ritual, as well as your hosts on this side of the dimension. Hizamaru himself will be compelled to trace the circle out in dust, light the candles, and set the stage for the exorcism. Just as he finishes his preparations, Monika will appear at the doorway, her expression blank as she walks stiffly to the center of the circle. The pair of them stare at each other for a few long moments, their actions still inhibited due to the compulsion, until suddenly — it breaks. And though they won't be able to exit the circle of dust, they will find that they are both free to move on their own. Almost immediately, everyone watching will instinctively know: It is time for the exorcism to begin.
Welcome to your second execution! Please do not reply to the thread reserved for the executioner and the one who received the majority vote. If you would like your character to react to the proceedings, you may use the post itself. |

--and she laughs, immediately, loudly, cruelly, the sound ringing through the ballroom. ]
This is, haha!, this is just the best. Imagine. The jilted lover getting revenge! I love it. Drama! Intrigue! Cry for me, okay? ♥

There's definitely no honor in waiting for villainous speeches. Though there could be time to repeat a phrase he's heard used already:]
Begone, Thot!
[And then he unloads the holy water onto her from the face down.]

A few things happen in rapid succession:
First, there is a horrendous, unholy shriek that both does and does not come from Monika.
Second, she does not melt. Instead, her body jerks, spasms, and drops to the floor like a marionette with its strings cut. Her eyes are shut; she seems unconscious.
Third, something else has appeared where Monika was once standing. A void of pitch black, so dark it seems to absorb the light around it. It's jagged, sharp to look at, and the noises it makes are inhuman, high-pitched guttural shrieks that sound like hate feels. But its most distinguishing feature is its rows and rows of glowing teeth. ]

As the holy water splashes onto the circle and Monika's unconscious body hits the ground, something happens. The lines and curves begin to glow, and at the very center, something begins to manifest itself. Those who gaze upon it will find themselves feeling absolutely sick, almost as if their entire being were rejecting the very sight they have laid their eyes upon. Whatever it is, it manifests itself over the perimeter of the summoning circle. The floor seems to warp and distort, giving way to whatever they have called into this realm by completing the exorcism. And though Hizamaru, Monika and the demon all stand within the circle — only Monika seems to be affected by it.
Just like what happened to Carlos and Polly, Monika's body will sink into the kaleidoscopic void. She will disappear completely into the portal, and as soon as that's done? The distortion will disappear, leaving Hizamaru and the demon behind. However... It seems like the exorcism has yet to come to its end.
Hizamaru still has a job to do.]

[Everything happens almost the same. He drops the holy water gun and grabs the hilt of his sword in preparation. Nausea rolls up through his body, strange, and he grits his teeth against it.
Monika's body starts to sink, and he begins to rush forward.] Monika-san! [It's sucking her in too quickly, and something worse is waiting in her place. Quickly, he stops and leaps back, drawing the sword at his side and falling into a stance that will lend him a fast dodge.]
Your reign ends here, Thot! This miasma, I will suppress it!
[Even without his brother... This will be fine. He swings the sword around and back, and he charges.]

But it doesn't attack Hizamaru. Not really.
It will veer at the last second and instead slam into the edge of the exorcism circle. A bright light flashes, a barrier manifesting. When the demon's body slams into it, it cracks, with a sound like ice over a deep pond beginning to snap when you take that first tentative step.
It's not here for the fight. ]

The dodging startles him. Gunning too fast, he has to dig his boots into the floor to skid to a stop and turn back. It went around...?
The swelling light momentarily blinds him, and he raises an arm to shield his face. Stunned, he watches it splinter like a little spider's web.] A barrier...? [His stomach drops. The barrier, the crack. It isn't here for a fight.
Again, he rushes for it, golden eyes blazing and sharp teeth bared. Crouching low, leaping high, he takes a swing at the demon's backside, but it's such a mass of darkness, he only comes away with a few inches of a cut. Tarry, black blood clings to the tip of the sword as he makes another downward swing as he falls again to the ground.]

ESCAPE!
ESCAPE!
The sound it makes when Hizamaru manages to cut it is horrifying, a bubbling wet shriek of offense and rage. It leaks that thick black blood as it stumbles away, smearing the floor with iron-scented tar.
Ready this time, waiting, the demon sprints out of the way, a burst of darkness slamming again into the barrier.
Another crack, deeper, louder. The light flashes and flickers. ]
no subject
Gross??
He lifts his sword and peers at the end. It feels awful, sickening, right in the pit of him, bringing goosebumps out on his arms and the back of his neck.]
Have I been careless...?
[The sword spins wildly around, an attempt to get the tarry liquid off, but only half successful. He rushes in again, growling, leaping from one clear spot on the floor to the other. Two swings again, one missing the dark mass of moving demon and one hitting slightly deeper than the first.]

then a hit,
and it screams loud enough to shake the air in your lungs.
The sheer force of the blow knocks it away, across the circle, where it stumbles, bleeding. There it slinks, its body heaving.
What’s that sound? Those whoofs of air. That gurgling, low, almost pleased.
It’s
laughing.
It raises a clawed forelimb, and slams into the barrier one final time. It shatters into ten million pieces. The dust that defined the circle scatters, leaving a gaping hole.
Like black lightning the demon streaks out the gap, and in the space of a breath it’s vanished out the exit, gone from sight.
Escape! ]
no subject
One more hit. One more.
He takes off, but only gets halfway there before the guttural laughter stops him cold. He arm rises, and he draws the sword quickly back.] No! [The barrier shatters and the dust is blown away. A fierce wind hits him as the demon shoots through, and he leans against it, raising an arm.
Without waiting, he runs after it and swings a final time, but the sword goes through it completely without hitting. It keeps going. He chases it, but at the door, it vanishes, leaving him slowing to a stop behind, breathless and ragged.]
POST-EXORCISM
Your hosts have also disappeared-- if you have questions, looks like you're going to have to send a message.]
